Expo Reclam 2011 recorded a 3% increase in visitors

28-02-2011

The international trade show Expo Reclam, the country's most important event for the advertising, promotional and corporate gift industry, ended its 2011 edition with a 3% increase in visitors over the previous year. The show was held at Ifema and open only to professionals.

A total of 7,433 professionals from the corporate gift sector attended Expo Reclam 15–17 February. They represented 3,788 advertising and promotional gift dealers. The 229 exhibitor companies, 29 of which came from outside Spain, presented their new items in 7,200 square metres of exhibition space.

The first two days saw the highest visitor numbers. 2,858 professionals visited on 15 February, an 11% increase over the 2010 edition. 16 February was the busiest day in terms of visitor traffic, with 3,144 visits. This was 3% more than the previous year. As usual, the final day was the quietest, with 1,431 visitors attending.

The Expo Reclam show, organised by Reed Exhibitions, is attended by exhibitor companies representing the full range of promotional items on the market: textiles, food items, stationery products, housewares, leisure articles, machines and electronics, among others.

Expo Reclam 2011 offered visitors a number of services, including the Green Point Area, which is dedicated to eco-friendly products and has now established itself as one of the event's regular features. Visitors also enjoyed the Internet Zone, with complimentary coffee and ice cream provided courtesy of Original Icecup.

Another feature was the Primer Paso (First Step) Area, which hosted exhibitor companies taking part in the trade show for the first time. Promo bags were also distributed, courtesy of Sol's. These were accompanied by a digital catalogue in CD format protected by a mousepad manufactured by Pad's World.

Expo Reclam 2011 enjoyed the support of the promotional gift industry's two associations: Fyvar (Spanish acronym for the Association of Advertising Item Manufacturers and Vendors) and Aimfap (Spanish acronym for the Association of Promotional Item Importers, Wholesalers and Manufacturers).

Demo programme
One of the event's new features was the programme of marking technique demonstrations. There were live demonstrations of the various marking and customisation methods at Expo Reclam's stand G105. These customisation techniques ranged from transfer paper on cloth, glass or ceramics to engraving on methacrylate, including screen printing on clothing and similar compact design methods.

The demos were organised with AEDES (Spanish acronym for the Spanish Association of Screen and Digital Printing Companies) in partnership with various exhibitors, including S.P.E., Framun, The Magic Touch and Roly.

Students from the IES Islas Filipinas and Salesianos de Atocha schools, both in Madrid, presented the demonstrations. The activities were intended for professional brokers in the promotional item industry: promotional gift dealers, distributors, advertising agencies, marketing firms and graphic arts companies.

The next edition
The organisers have already announced the dates of the next edition of Expo Reclam. It will be held 14–16 February 2012, also in Pavilion 4 at Ifema.
