Excellent results accompanied the first edition of Expo Reclam Xmas, with the event receiving visits from 1,820 companies in the sector. The show was held 6-8 September at Ifema and was intended to support the Christmas and New Year's campaign, one of the most important for the promotional and corporate gift sector.
Expo Reclam Xmas confirmed its potential as an event to drive the sector forward. Exhibitor and visitor numbers speak to the success of this new event. According to information from the organiser (Reed Exhibitions Iberia), it brought in a total of 3,026 visits (2,782 unique professionals) from 1,810 companies in the sector.
The new professional trade show, which joins the traditional Expo Reclam event in the month of February, presented the latest Christmas-related items from a total of 81 companies in Pavilion 14 of the Feria de Madrid fairground.
Tuesday, 7 September saw the most visitors (1,195), a slight increase over the previous day, when 1,015 professional visitors attended. The third and final day of ER Xmas received 817 visitors.
Most firms were Spanish, although it is significant that 5% of companies came from other countries, a total of 12, with Portugal, Italy and France sending the most representatives.
In terms of Spanish visitors, the majority came from the Community of Madrid (691), followed by the Valencian Community (155), Catalonia (129) and Andalusia (115).
A professional profile
Regarding the areas of activity of the companies that visited ER Xmas, the majority were promotional gift dealers (40.98%, to be specific), followed by advertising agencies/advertising services (15.44%) and graphic arts/digital printing (12.27%). It is worth noting that 50.83% of the companies that visited Expo Reclam Xmas stated that their main business activity was advertising and promotion.
The stands at ER Xmas occupied a net area of 1,800 m2 (of a gross 4,000 m2) in Pavilion 14, locat ed on the first floor of the Ifema - Feria de Madrid venue.
Satisfaction and optimism
Exhibitor companies also offered a positive assessment. In the words of Susana Gibert, director of the ER Xmas show: 'Exhibitors gave the new show excellent marks. They emphasised the professionalism of the visitors who attended the event and also noticed an improvement within the sector itself, with greater optimism and confidence following a very difficult period.'
One of the highlights of the show were the services provided at ER Xmas, which offered package shipping by Envialia at excellent prices, a course from Fyvar (Spanish acronym for the Association of Advertising Item Manufacturers and Vendors) on the Personal Data Protection Law and an area with free Internet access where both visitors and exhibitors were served a free cup of Nespresso coffee.
