Over 40 exhibitors displayed around 100 environmental products in Green Point during Expo Reclam 2009

Following the growing demand of ecological products and services, Expo Reclam kicked off a new initiative – the area designated Green Point - in the show's last edition, which took place in February in the IFEMA exhibition centre. The aim of this activity is to strengthen the range of products within the promotional and advertising gift industry.

During the last edition of the show specialised in advertising through objects, which took place in pavilion 9 of the Feria de Madrid from 11 to 13 February, the area designated Green Point was uncovered as the latest innovation. In this area, the trade fair's participating exhibitors were able to discover the latest innovations in environmental products. The creation of this space was greatly received by the manufacturing and importing companies of promotional gifts, as over 40 companies – 14% of the total number of exhibitors – displayed more than 100 environmental items.

Ecological products

There were a large number of items in this area, ranging from traditional note pads in recycled paper, a wide range of textile garments made from organic cotton to different types of electronic items charged with solar energy sources as well as different elements made from recycled, fully biodegradable plastic. Out of all the products on display, some innovations were particularly noteworthy, such as the Volumetric Reducer – a low cost and simple device with proven efficiency used for saving water in WC cisterns – which was presented by the company Marcadiferencia. The lanyard made from natural cork was another new item in the edition's green area and was an exclusive from the Portuguese company Original Lanyards.

In turn, the Freeworld team created a meticulous collection of different plant species to bring people closer to nature and enable them to gain an interest in growing and looking after the environment in a simple manner. Among these, the mini lucky box was noteworthy – a small wooden box from which a 4-leaf clover grows.

LaThe German company Koziol offered its support in the form a flower to identify each one of the participating exhibitors. Koziol only uses physiologically innocuous and 100% recyclable materials and colourings. These and the rest of items making up Green Point can be seen on the official Expo Reclam website.

Energy awareness

Another of the initiatives put forward by the Green Point area was the acknowledgement of energy saving using specific measures. Therefore, the famous tool manufacturer Victorinox AG, a company represented by Comercial Muela, demonstrated its commitment to the environment through efficient production and a significant reduction of emissions with closed systems.

Once again, the edition was greatly received by industry professionals, with 8,325 professional visitors from advertising through objects attending the Expo Reclam 2009 meeting. A total of 3,598 intermediary companies from promotional and advertising gifts visited the show, compared with 3,581 in 2008, an increase of 0.47%. As per usual, entry was reserved for industry specialists and strict visitor control ensured access only to those professionals registered as working in the capacity of intermediaries of promotional and advertising gifts.

The next edition of Expo Reclam will take place from 10, 11 and 12 February 2010 in pavilion 9 of the Feria de Madrid, setting all the wheels in motion to make Expo Reclam 2010 the most important meeting point for the industry in Southern Europe.
