Once again, the Expo Reclam show was confirmed as Spain’s leading gathering for advertising through promotional items as more than 8,325 professionals from 3,598 advertising and promotional gift dealers visited the event. Both exhibitors and visitors were entirely satisfied, as they took advantage of the trade show to close important business deals which will enable them to tackle promotional campaigns in upcoming months with assurance.
11-13 February, Feria de Madrid’s Pavilion 9 hosted the 21st edition of Expo Reclam, the leading specialised promotional gift show in Southern Europe. Once again, the event received an excellent reception from the sector’s professionals, as 8,325 professional visitors from the advertising through promotional items industry attended Expo Reclam 2009. Visits were spread out over the three days of the show, although it was the second day, Thursday, 12 February, that received the greatest number of visitors, 3,492, in comparison with 2,963 on the first day and 1,870 on the last day of the event.
A total of 3,598 advertising and promotional gift dealers visited the show, compared with the 3,581 that attended in 2008, a 0.47% increase. 2,982 promo bags containing the show’s official catalogue and samples from the different exhibitors were distributed.
A strong showing by international exhibitors
As regards exhibitor companies, a total of 282 from 13 countries took part in the show. Of these firms, 18% were from foreign countries, with Italy (14), Germany (6), France (6) and the Netherlands (5), being especially noteworthy. An obvious demonstration of the significant degree of loyalty among exhibitors is the fact that more than 70% also attended the previous edition. In addition, 82 companies took part in the event for the first time, 14 of which did so through the First Step programme, which included ‘turnkey’ participation for new exhibitors.
Looking at the results of the satisfaction surveys completed by exhibitors so far, almost 93% of those surveyed said that they are satisfied with their participation in the show and 96% stated their intention to take part in the 2010 edition. According to Susana Gibert, the show’s director, ‘We are very pleased with the results, as the environment is not the most suitable, yet we still brought together almost 90% of the market on both the supply and demand sides.’
Entry strictly for professionals
As usual, entry was reserved solely for specialists from the sector and strict visitor controls denied access to all those professionals who were not able to provide proof that they were advertising and promotional gift dealers. According to the show’s director, Susana Gibert, this ‘is an arduous task which forces us to make a significant effort both before the show and at the entrance. We ask show visitors to provide a copy of the IAE (Spanish acronym for the Economic Activities Tax) return to protect the promotional gift channel. Our main aim is to bring the sector the greatest benefits, starting with not allowing non-professionals access to the show.’
Lastly, it is worth pointing out the excellent reception two new services received. One was the creation of an area known as GREEN POINT, where more than 100 environmentally-friendly articles and new items were exhibited. All of the products on display can be seen on the Expo Reclam website. The second was the Internet Zone, a meeting space and work area with free Internet access for all attendees.
The Expo Reclam team is already working on the next edition, Expo Reclam 2010, which will be held 10-12 February of next year in Pavilion 9 at Feria de Madrid.
